A KOREAN national was wounded during a robbery in Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City at dawn yesterday.

The victim was with two other Koreans when they were robbed at gunpoint.

The suspects, whom police considered as notorious robbers, also shot the Filipino driver of the tricycle the foreigners were riding.

Supt. Resty Santos, head of Talisay City Police Station, said the incident happened at 1:30 a.m. at the corner of Uldog and Ramona Sts. while the victims were on their way to Andok’s Lechon in Barangay Tabunok.

Police identified the victims as Lee Yu Na, 24; Jeong Yoo Jin, 25; and Nam Ok Min, 37. They are studying in Cebu Globalization ESL Center Inc.

Santos said Jin was shot in the stomach and driver Diogracias Dumancas, 46, was hit in the left shoulder.

They were rushed to Talisay City District Hospital and transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC).

“As of yesterday, they were already in stable condition,” Santos told Sun.Star Cebu.

Because it was Friday and there was no curfew, the Koreans went out and had a drink in a bar in Barangay Tabunok.

After drinking, they decided to go home and boarded a tricycle driven by Dumancas of Barangay San Isidro.

Upon reaching the gate of their school in Barangay Cansojong, the victims instructed the driver to go back and proceed to Barangay

Tabunok because they wanted to eat at Andok’s Lechon.

While on their way there, the suspects waylaid them and held the victims at gunpoint.

Santos said the suspects took Lee’s smart phone worth P20,000. But her companions resisted. This prompted one of the robbers to shoot Jeong and Dumancas before leaving the area.

Santos said the victims identified the suspects through the police rogues gallery, a stash of photos of suspected felons.

“Mga notado ni sila gyud. Naa ni sila’y mga warrant of arrests,” he said.

Santos said they only learned of the incident after their roving patrol saw people gathering in the area.

He said the school’s security guard didn’t call them, but notified other police units in Cebu City.

“Kung natawagan dayon mi, posible madakpan pa ‘to namo (Had we been informed immediately, we could have caught the gunmen),” Santos said.
