Cebu City, Cebu — The Vietnamese government is eyeing to explore more opportunities for mutual exchange between their government and Cebu specifically in the education sector, a top Vietnamese envoy said.
Truong Trieu Duong, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Philippines said that their country is keen on boosting education ties with Cebu citing the high English proficiency of most Cebuanos and the growth of English as Secondary Language (ESL) schools in the province.
“Cebu is slowly gaining popularity in Vietnam as a destination for Vietnamese to learn the English language. We are hoping to bridge Cebu-based educational institutions with those in Vietnam,” said Duong.
Duong met with top officials of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) recently to inform the Cebu business community of the various opportunities Cebu and Vietnam can explore in areas like education, tourism, trade, and investment.
He said the Vietnamese government has seen a growing number of Vietnamese students who come here for ESL studies. Similarly, he invited more Cebuano teachers to work in Vietnam.
